Cleaning a Coin at Home

When attempting to clean your coin we recommend using distilled water to soak your coin, soaking it for at least 24 hours, then use a toothbrush and a wooden toothpick to remove the dirt go slow clean carefully and keep soaking in the distilled water for 24 hours or more repeat this until you have removed all the dirt and when you are satisfied all the dirt has gone, soak your coin in olive oil or WD- 40 for 24 hours, remove giving the coin one final brush making sure the brush is dry then wipe with a paper towel and you have finished.

HOW TO CLEAN THE COINS IN YOUR UNEARTHERD EMPIRE PRODUCT STEP BY STEP

An important rule of thumb when cleaning old coins is you never do it fast, clean them slowly and carefully if they have a patina, you can easily remove it if you go to hard and fast when cleaning.

STEP ONE. Soak your coins in the coin cleaning solution provided for 24 hours

STEP TWO. Remove the coins from the pot and start to brush them gently in a circular motion clean both sides and remove any excess dirt with a paper towel keep using this method making sure the coin doesn’t start to appear shiny if it does stop cleaning that area. You can also use the toothpick provided to remove any hard concrete like dirt, keep reverting back to soaking the coins for 24 hours then take out and clean, keep repeating this method until you are satisfied all the dirt has been removed this can take weeks so you will need a bit of patients, you can also use your magnifying glass provided to check your progress.

STEP THREE. Soak your coins in olive oil or WD40 for 24 hours then give them a final clean with the brush make sure the brush is dry and you want to be almost polishing them at this point give them a gentle wipe with a paper towel they should look even cleaner than before, once you are happy with them place them in the display cases provided and if your coins have enough detail you might be able to do some research into your coins history good luck and happy cleaning.
